Five North-East Sports clubs will benefit after sportscotland Direct Club Investment announced the beneficiaries of their latest funding initiative.
The favoured five, Aberdeen Schools Rowing Club, Aberdeen Sports Village Table Tennis Club, Aberdeen Amateur Athletics Club, Stoneywood Dyce Cricket Club and Fraserburgh Athletics club, have been awarded a total of £121,500 to be apportioned accordingly.
Funding of almost £1 million has been committed to 43 projects throughout the country over the next four years, as the national agency for sport aims to support the growth of individual clubs.
The new investment allows clubs across Scotland to develop and meet the expanding capacity demands due to the excitement of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Stewart Harris, chief executive of sportscotland, said: “We are making significant progress in implementing a world-class sporting system at all levels, and this investment demonstrates our commitment to the growth of clubs throughout the country.
“The Direct Club Investment programme is helping sportscotland to prepare clubs for the increased demand they will face as a result of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
“By providing financial support which helps clubs to develop in a sustainable way we are helping to deliver a lasting legacy for clubs which will benefit communities throughout the country.”
