Sam Locke holds a six-shot lead following an unblemished opening round of the Pollok Open.
Stonehaven’s Locke shot a nine-under-par round of 62 at the Glasgow venue, which is hosting the fourth event of Paul Lawrie’s Tartan Pro Tour.
That has given Locke a healthy lead over nine players who are tied in second place ahead of tomorrow’s final round, including 1999 Open winner Lawrie and Peterhead’s Jamie McLeary.
Locke triumphed in the first Tartan Pro Tour event when he won the Carnoustie Challenge, which the 22-year-old followed up with top 10 finishes at the Scottish Par 3 Championship and the Royal Dornoch Masters.
The winner of the order of merit in the six-event series will secure a place at the Scottish Open at Renaissance in October.
