Huntly host champions Mannofield in tomorrow’s Strathmore Union action.
Huntly have had a difficult few weeks and are in need a win. They will look to Liam Ferguson, who will be hoping to keep up his good form after an excellent knock last week of 90.
Having dedicated 25 years of his playing career to Mannofield, Shay Nathakumaran knows what it takes to win a league championship.
The veteran batsman continually tops the averages and provides a wealth of experience to those around him. He believes that, despite a stop-start beginning to the season, Mannofield can still retain the title.
He said: “We’ve been slow out of the blocks but we have had a bit of a shake-up in terms of players this year. It takes time to gel but there is clearly a wealth of talent. Confidence is key and is continuing to develop throughout the team.”
Arrowdawn Gordonians will look to build on last week’s win over Strathmore. However, the Aberdeen side travels to current league leaders Meigle. Gordonians will look to Aman Arora, who made a good 68 not out last week.
Gordonians captain Rahul Narula said: “We know this will be a really tough game but we are confident that if we can hold our batting together then we are in with a chance of taking the points tomorrow.
“We need to make sure we restrict their batsmen as much as possible.'”
Bottom side Stoneywood-Dyce will be desperate for their first win of the season when they travel to Perth. SDCC will be hoping Andrew Rayner can build on his bowling performance against Mannofield last weekend, taking two wickets for 17 runs.
