Rory McIlroy has claimed a one-shot lead of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, after finishing his opening round with a course record seven-under-par 64.
The Northern Irishman has overtaken Swede Kristoffer Broberg who had held the early advantage with a morning round of 65, with Argentine Ricardo González currently holding the same score after 11 holes.
Michael Hoey is just behind him on five under par, while Scot Marc Warren and England’s Luke Donald both shot four under par.
Inverness’ Russell Knox enjoyed a fine return to Scottish golf, finishing three under par despite dropping a shot at the last hole.
