Richie Ramsay’s continued his impressive recent form with a promising start to the Portugal Masters in Vilamoura.
The 31-year-old, who finished second in the Alfred Dunhill Links championship on Sunday, was one under after seven holes to move inside the top 10 on the leaderboard.
England’s Ross Fisher is the early pacesetter, playing his opening seven holes in three under par thanks to birdies at the 12th, 13th and 15th.
Aberdeen’s Paul Lawrie has also made an encouraging start to the competition. The 1999 Open champion had bogeyed his first hole of the day, the 10th, but recovered with birdies at the 12th and 15th.
Glasgow golfer Chris Doak, who secured his card for next season with a fifth place finish at the Alfred Dunhill Links, was two under after five holes.
