Aberdeen Lynx fought back from three goals down, to claim a draw in an exhilarating home clash against the Dundee Comets in the SNL.

Inspired by man of the match, Mark Laing, the Lynx staged a fantastic third period comeback performance after going into the period 3-0 down.

Former Comets player Laing felt his team played extremely well, despite getting off to a slow start, he said: “We went into the third period 3-0 down.  It was obvious that we needed to step up our game plan and we all agreed that the opposing team had come in a lot stronger than we had anticipated.

“We quickly got our act together and after a motivational pep talk we got back out onto the ice and secured a strong first goal, which also brought the fans to their feet.

“Our fans got behind us for the whole of the third period and were chanting for us, which gave the team a lift that we desperately needed.  This spurred us all on and pushed me to claim a hat trick against my old team.  It was a good result for us, although we would have liked to have come away with a win.

“Without the fans’ support I’m not sure how the game would have ended. They were fantastic.”

Both teams impressed, with the Comets taking an early lead and putting pressure on the Lynx. The second period saw the match take a sinister turn as it became a lot more physical, with boisterous challenges coming from both sides.

The Lynx finally fought back in the third period with Laing scoring from close range and Lynx captain, Jordan Leyden, scoring also, bringing the Lynx within touching distance of the Comets.

With an energised crowd and a brilliant atmosphere the hosts found two more goals, which they desperately needed, as Mark Laing scored a double pulling the Lynx Level with the Comets at 4-4.
