Aberdeen Lynx picked up an impressive win on the road this weekend against North Ayrshire Wild with a solid performance over the three periods.
After a fantastic comeback in their previous home match, the Aberdeen Lynx were looking to improve their away form and take some points on the road.
In a dominant first period, Lynx forward, Ian Malcolm, gave Aberdeen the lead with a rifling shot from close range, however, the Lynx failed to take advantage of their forward pressure and the opposing keeper kept the match at 1-0.
The Wild did manage to pull themselves back into the match with a quick leveller at the beginning of the second period, but forward, Ross McIntosh, quickly restored the Lynx’s lead.
Throughout the game both teams had a number of opportunities to add to their score, but it remained 2-1 to the Lynx going into the final period.
In traditional Lynx style, an action packed third period saw both teams hitting the net. First, forward, Barry Carnegie, gave the Lynx a two-goal lead with the Wild replying immediately from the face off to make it a 1 goal game.
It was forward, Christian Johnson who sealed the win for the Lynx with a superb solo effort. The Wild were unable to catch the Lynx after that, and the game ended with a 4 – 2 victory for the Lynx.
Lynx head coach, Rod Ramsay, said: “I am delighted to have come back with a win away from home. The team played really well and worked off one another much better, ensuring that we won.
“We were a lot more focused this weekend and we seem to have dominated the match throughout, despite being faced with a number of good challenges from the Wild.”
After pulling of a sting of impressive saves, Lynx netminder, Theo Kynoch, was awarded the Lynx man of the match.
Kynoch said: “The team is getting stronger every time we play and the results we are managing to achieve show this. It’s been an exciting season so far and we are looking forward to continuing on a high.”
Next up for the Lynx are the Solway Sharks, with a 7pm face off at the Linx ice arena.
