European Tour golf is returning to the north-east of Scotland next year.
An announcement will be made at Murcar Links today by 1999 Open champion Paul Lawrie.
It is understood a 64-man match play event is being added to the European Tour calendar with a £792,866 prize fund.
The event was initially scheduled to take place the same week as the US Open, June 15 to 21, but it is believed it will now be held two weeks after the Open championship, from July 31 to August 2.
It follows the huge success of this year’s Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen.
Justin Rose won the Balgownie links event in a tournament which included Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler.
It is another boost for the European Tour, who last week announced the future of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open was secured until 2020.
The tournament will keep its coveted position on the golfing calendar, the week before the Open, with the tournament prize fund increasing to £3.25million in 2015 and 2016 to £3.5million in 2017 and £4million in 2018.
