Aberdeen’s Sports Awards 2022 took place at P&J Live last night – and our photographers were there to capture pictures of the whole thing.

The celebration of Granite City sport returned for the first time since 2019 and – with no Sports Awards for more than two years due to the Covid pandemic – athletes, clubs, volunteers, sponsors and everyone else who helps keep Aberdeen sport thriving were out to enjoy themselves.

There were also close to 20 prizes given out, with recognition for athletes representing the north-east on the world stage, to those working on the ground at grassroots level. All were inspiring in their own way – and all were richly deserved.

We’ve put together this gallery from the night, which was backed by headline sponsors Samsung Electronics UK, so take a look through and see if you can spot yourself (or your friends, family or colleagues).

The host

Tuesday night’s Sports Awards ceremony was hosted (fittingly, given the 2022 Winter Games have just concluded) by Calgary 1988 Winter Olympics ski-jumping hero Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards.

As well as hosting duties, the high-energy former athlete, a cult icon for his can-do spirit in reaching the sporting pinnacle, also answered the audience’s questions in a Q&A.

Guest tables

Our snappers got around as many tables as they could over the course of the evening – between awards and the delicious three-course dinner – and got the guests at each to pose for photos.
