Aberdeen’s Richie Ramsay made a stunning start to the European Tour’s final event of the season, the DP World Tour championship in Dubai.
A flawless five under par 67 gave the 31-year-old a share of the clubhouse lead alongside Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen.
Ramsay started his round with birdies at the opening three holes of the Jumeirah Golf Estates course before making further gains at the 14th and 15th.
The Press and Journal columnist, who is currently ranked 102nd in the world and 45th in the Race to Dubai, said: “I am really happy.
“I got off to a great start with three birdies on the spin, which was really nice.
“I played lovely in the middle and had a lot of chances.
“I just didn’t take a few of them but the most important thing was I stayed patient, kept playing good shots and took a couple of chances at 14 and 15.
“I was pretty solid coming down the stretch. I never put myself under any pressure.
“It was consistent golf. I was just trying to keep it as simple as possible.”
