A blemish free four under par 68 helped Stephen Gallacher move into contention at the European Tour finale, the DP Dubai world championship today.
The Press and Journal columnist is four shots off the lead currently held by defending champion Henrik Stenson, who leads the field by one shot.
Gallacher birdied the fifth, 10th, 12th and 15th holes to move into the top 10.
Aberdonian Richie Ramsay and Rory McIlroy are two shots behind leader Stenson as the race for the £789,000 first prize.
Gallacher said: “I’m delighted with that but I feel I haven’t scored as well as my play deserves this week so hopefully there is more to come this weekend.
“The last couple of weeks is the best I’ve played all year and I’ve only missed two fairways with the driver.
“I’m just not holing the putts, more because I’m struggling to read the greens rather than putting poorly, but I’m going to practice on that and hopefully it will be okay for the weekend.”
