Paul Lawrie will now take a back seat in the Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Invitational after defeat to follow Scotsman Chris Doak this afternoon at Murcar.
After a hectic week of off-course commitments to help promote his inaugural tournament on the European Tour, Paul Lawrie relished his return to the day job yesterday as he swept aside Frenchman Romain Wattel with a convincing 5 and 4 win at Murcar Links.
However, it was a different story today at the final 32 stage as Lawrie took on fellow Scotsman Chris Doak. After a tight encounter, Doak sealed his passage into the third round on the 18th hole.
Meanwhile, on the back of his first round victory over Shiv Kapur, Aberdeen’s Richie Ramsay is into the third round after seeing off the challenge of Ryder Cup star Edoardo Molinari 4&3.
Ramsay stormed into a three hole lead by the fourth, where he hit an eagle three, and never looked back.
