She is still in primary school, but Aberdeen skier Kirsty Muir has her sights set high after a successful season in freestyle ski-ing.
The 12-year-old, who attends Kingswells Primary School, has been on the slopes since the age of three and took up an interest in freestyle ski-ing when she started attending the Aberdeen Snowsports Centre at Garthdee.
She was called into the British development squad a year ago and as a member of the Home Nations and National Academy for Park and Pipe Pathways, Muir regularly attends training camps home and abroad and her involvement means she is able to train alongside full Team GB members.
Muir aims to join her senior colleagues and one day represent Britain on the Olympic stage.
She said: “Training with the older athletes is amazing, it makes me want to keep on improving so one day I might be as good as them.
“My dream is compete at the Olympics and the X Games.”
Muir is certainly going about the task of getting herself noticed after a fine season on the slopes.
She won the Scottish indoor freestyle title, Scottish freestyle dryslope title and Scottish freestyle champion, becoming the youngest skier to hold all three titles at the same time.
She followed those displays by finishing second in the British Snowboard and Freeski championship (Brits) indoor champion-ships in Manchester before heading to Laax in Switzerland for the outdoor championship where she finished fourth overall in slopestyle, third in the half pipe and runner-up in Rails.
Muir’s dad Jim was quick to hail the influence of his daughter’s coach in her progress.
He said: “Andy Begg from the centre has done a brilliant job of coaching Kirsty.
“Aberdeen Snowsports Centre is a tremendous resource.
“Kirsty and the older athletes from the north-east who compete at national and international level simply could not do it without the facility.”
It makes me want to keep on improving so one day I might be as good as them
Fine season: For Aberdeen skier Kirsty Muir
