Golf’s Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open will not be moved from its position the week before the Open championship.
The tournament’s place in the European Tour schedule has come under pressure in recent years but the Tour, sponsors Aberdeen Asset Management and the Scottish Government have confirmed there is no prospect of the dates of the tournament changing.
In 2014 the agreement was extended by all partners through to 2020 committing support to the tournament, which this year returns to Castle Stuart near Inverness from July 7, which includes retaining the spot on the European Tour schedule the week before the Open championship.
Keith Pelley, chief executive of the European Tour, said: “We are proud of our strong partnership with Aberdeen Asset Management and the Scottish Government and look forward to the Scottish Open continuing to be a firm fixture on the European Tour the week before the Open championship.”
