Nicolas Colsaerts is something of a specialist when it comes to Castle Stuart Golf Links.
The big-hitting Belgian, a member of Europe’s 2012 Ryder Cup team at Medinah, finished in the top-10 in two out of the three years the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open was previously held at the Inverness venue.
The 33-year-old was third in 2011 and a respectable 36th in 2012 before coming eighth at Castle Stuart three years ago.
Now he’s back for more and chasing the win.
Colsaerts said: “Castle Stuart seems to suit my game and I have done well in the past.
“I have got good memories so I am glad we are going back there after a couple of years away. The Scottish Open is one of those events I always look forward to playing.
“The crowds and courses are always great.
“You can never tell with the Scottish summer weather of course, but I can’t wait to go back.”
The two-time European Tour winner endured a disappointing 2015 season which culminated in falling outside the top 200 in the world rankings for the first time in seven years.
But Colsaerts is looking more like himself this season having already finished third at the Nordea Masters and the Mauritius Open.
He added: “I have been playing well for a couple of months and I feel like I am getting my groove back.
“Hopefully a win is getting close as it feels like things are starting to click.
“The game is certainly there to feel optimistic for the months ahead.”
