The Aberdonian, and world number one, landed seventh place in the semis with a time of 99.43seconds. But a disastrous run of 109 seconds left him placed last in the final. France’s Denis Gargaud Chanut took gold, ahead of Slovakia’s Matej Banus and Tayuka Haneda of Japan. He will now turn his attentions to the doubles event on Thursday where he has excelled in previous Olympics
