The Caledonia Regional Shield takes place at Countesswells tomorrow where Gordonians meet Forfar club Strathmore.
The game gives Cale-donia 1 leaders Gordonians the opportunity to complete the first leg of a league and Shield double, although club president Jim Sugden insisted all such talk had been banned.
He added: “We are taking one game at a time, and while we would be delighted to win the Shield, gaining promotion to the national leagues is our first priority. It will be tough for us, but we can take heart from the fact that we beat Strathmore at Forfar in the league three weeks ago.”
In Elgin there is a derby Caledonia Regional Bowl final between Moray and RAF Lossiemouth.
Moray’s players are also in the running for a double, currently lying one point behind Caledonia 2 North leaders Banff, and club president Billy Adams said: “This is a big day for rugby in the Moray area. We would be delighted to win a final while the league will look after itself.”
In Caledonia 1 Aberdeen Wanderers has a vital rele-gation game in Dundee where they meet fellow-strugglers Harris Academy FPs. In the only game in Caledonia 2 North leaders Banff travel to Inverness where they play Highland 2nds. In the second tier of the split league Ellon host Stornoway and Deeside take on Ross Sutherland at Banchory.
