Orkney head coach Paul Livingstone hopes home comforts can help his side get back to winning ways against Haddington tomorrow.
The visitors are eighth in National 3, one point ahead of the Islanders, and Livingstone knows the game is a huge one for both clubs.
He said: “It’s a very big game for us. We’ve been disappointed with the last two fixtures as we could, and probably should, have won them both. We had them in the bag but let it slip on both occasions.
“Our narrow 22-19 defeat in Perth a fortnight ago was caused by a lack of concentration in the last 10 minutes, along with a couple of debatable decisions from the referee which can happen.
“Last weekend we again suffered a narrow defeat when we lost 31-25 at Hillhead Jordanhill.
“We dropped the ball twice when we were over the line and that robbed us of a five-point win. They ran out of steam after 60 minutes while our guys are much fitter now as we’ve been working on that.”
Looking at tomorrow’s game, Livingstone added: “Over the years it would seem that Haddington have been a difficult team for us.
“The players have always said that for whatever reason they’ve always found Haddington games to be awkward, but these days with just four of the guys having previously faced Haddington hopefully there’s nothing to be worried about.
“They’re struggling a little bit, just like ourselves at the moment. We’re trying to get continuity but I’m quietly still confident that with home advantage, and a strong squad to pick from, we’ll get a positive result.”
