Highland built on last week’s morale-boosting win against leaders Glasgow Accies, running in 11 tries to keep themselves in the National 3 promotion race demolishing bottom side Dalziel in the process.
Head coach Davie Carson was delighted with the win on the road, especially as Newton Stewart, one of the top two, had lost at St Boswells.
He said: “We now go into our break in a position to strike for a top-two place when we come back.”
The Inverness side’s other scores came from Magnus Hendry (2), Callum Carson, Steve Rutledge, Craig Findlater, and Scott Fraser, who also kicked eight conversions.
There was no such joy for Gordonians, who will be glad of a break after losing 47-5 to leaders Glasgow Accies at New Anniesland.
Head coach Ryan Morrice was pleased with his side’s first-half performance but said: “We were in contention at only 12-5 down, only to pick up more injuries in the second period, and by the end of the game we were out on our feet.”
Stand off Mark Marchbank was the lone try scorer for the Countesswells men, who will use the next three weeks to assess their resources, while giving injuries time to heal.
At Kirkwall, Orkney had a much-needed 31-16 win at the expense of Haddington.
The home try scorers were Alex Kansour (2) and Scott Rendall and the win keeps the islanders out of the relegation area in the division.
