Gordonians captain Tom Williams hopes his side can end the year with a victory in Orkney this weekend.
The Countesswells men have been idle the past fortnight after their matches against Dalziel and Perthshire fell victim to the wintry weather.
Williams hopes there is no repeat this weekend in Kirkwall.
He said: “We used to go up to Orkney every year when they were in the Caley Leagues with us.
“I have only made the trip once but some of the boys have done it quite a few times.
“It is going to be a bit of an epic journey.
“We travel from Aberdeen to John O’Groats the day before, stay overnight there and then get the ferry across.
“We will play the match at 12.30pm, get the ferry back at 4.30pm and then return to Aberdeen around one o’clock on Sunday morning.
“It is a good journey.
“We are hopeful the game will be on as the weather is apparently fine up there.
“The only way it could be postponed is if the ferries don’t run but I can’t see that happening.
“That is good as we are really looking forward to getting back on the pitch.
“It has been a frustrating period so fingers crossed we can get a game played.
“We had to cancel training this week but the boys have been in the gym working hard.”
Orkney have recorded only two wins from 11 matches in National 3 this season – with both victories on their own patch.
Williams added: “It is going to be a long journey but it will all be worthwhile if we get the win.
“We know how difficult it is going to be.
“It is always tough when you face Orkney, especially up there.
“There is always a decent crowd and we know the importance of going up there and playing well.
“Hopefully we can get the result we are looking for.”
