Gordonians registered back-to-back wins at Countesswells to move into the comfort of a mid-table position in National 3.
The comfortable victory against Ardrossan means head coach Ryan Morrice is plotting his strategy for next season in the division.
He said: “For the first time in a big game, we played for 80 minutes.
“I was a little apprehensive when we went 19-0 up at half time, but we kept our shape, and went on to score a further 21 points.
“In fairness, Ardrossan hit back as you would expect from the league’s form team. But, once again, our captain and hooker Tom Williams was the key figure, scoring two more tries to take his tally to a remarkable 20 this season.
“But make no mistake – this was a good all-round team performance.
The Gordonians tries came from Williams’ brace as well as Steve Whittet, Tristan Jones, Simon Orr, and Seb Davies.
Centre Graeme Crawford, meanwhile, was in fine form with the boot as he slotted in five conversions out of six attempts.
Elswhere in the division, Orkney’s battle to avoid relegation continued as the islanders lost 29-10 away against Murrayfield Wanderers.
Orkney head coach Paul Livingstone remained defiant despite defeat, however.
He said: “All is not lost as we played some good entertaining rugby,.
“But we had lapses of concentration, which allowed Murrayfield in for two quick tries after half time.
“It was, over the piece, a good effort.
“We’ll be looking to turn things around next week when we play against bottom-of-the-table team Dalziel.”
Orkney’s solitary try was scored by Scott Rendall and converted by scrum half Danny Bain, who also kicked a penalty during the defeat.
