Aberdeenshire will trek to Thurso tomorrow, hoping to make inroads on their bid to claim third place in Caley Division 1.
Joint leaders Ellon and Dunfermline are nine points clear of the chasing pack with six games played in the race for the one promotion place on offer in the top Caley division.
Shire’s opponents Caithness are also eyeing third place and with home advantage might just fancy their chances, although Shire have been in good form in recent weeks.
Shire head coach Charlie Cattosaid: “After a poor start in our first back in the division, we have picked up the pace, including a great win against Grangemouth Stags, while pushing Dunfermline all the way.
“In a league with only seven teams, losing early games is a disaster, but we’re intent on a good run in.”
Aberdeen Wanderers are at home to Grangemouth Stags who are sitting in third place, and while the Groats Road have performed well enough have yet to win a league game.
In Caley 2 North, leaders 2nd Highland host Shetland with the Shetlanders out to get back into the promotion race after their 36-24 defeat at the hands of Ross Sutherland last week.
Banff and Mackie clash at Duff House, and with both sides demonstrating some dramatically improved performances, an almighty tussle is in prospect.
Similarly at Rubislaw, derby rivals 2nd Aberdeen Grammar and their Gordonians counterparts collide.
In the two sections in Caley 3 North, Garioch will be bidding to extend their 18-point lead in the southern section when they entertain 2nd Aberdeenshire, although second-placed Dyce with two games in hand will expect maximum points when they meet an out-of-form Aberdeen University Medics team at Kings College.
In the northern section, Kinloss Eagles take their handsome 11-point lead to Turriff where the home side have blown hot and cold in their six games to date.
