The owners of Land Rover which sparked a major rescue when it was found floating upside down off a Western Isles beach are expected to recover the vehicle today.
A land, sea and air search was launched on Tuesday evening when a passer-by raised the alarm after spotting the vehicle at Port Beag, Tolsta, on Lewis.
A jacket was also seen floating outside the submerged 4×4.
Stornoway lifeboat, the Stornoway Coastguard helicopter and coastguard teams from Stornoway, Ness and Breasclete were sent to the scene shortly before 6pm but the vehicle was found to be empty and police later traced the owners.
The fire service said two fire crew used equipment to secure the Land Rover and prevent it floating further in to the sea.
A Stornoway Coastguard spokeswoman said the vehicle had been abandoned by the owners after becoming stuck and they were expected to recover it today.
