An investigation into what caused a fire at a north-east bowling alley will get underway later today.
Eight fire engines from across the north-east were sent to Harley’s in Macduff after a 999 call at about 9.05pm last night.
Around 60 firefighters fought the blaze at Old Gamrie Road and were able to extinguish the last of the flames by 5.10am.
No one was injured or needed to be rescued from the building.
Fire service group manager David Meldrum, who was at the scene yesterday, said: “The crews worked very hard and dealt with the fire quickly and effectively.
“Their actions managed to prevent substantial damage to the building and they were able to contain the fire to the roof space.
“Thankfully no one was inside the premises at the time.”
This morning, a spokeswoman for the police said a joint investigation would likely get underway today and that inquiries were still “ongoing”.
