A north-east school which was hit by vandals will reopen to pupils tomorrow.
Markethill Primary school was closed for two days while efforts were made to make it safe again after windows were smashed and classrooms were destroyed.
The Turriff school was broken into over the weekend while no one was on guard, and vandals are estimated to have caused about £20,000 of damage.
Their sickening attack included wrecking classrooms and even destroying invaluable objects including trophies and childrens’ mementos – including drawings.
The school will welcome back pupils tomorrow and has assured parents that the facility is once “back to normal”.
Meanwhile, the director of education at Aberdeenshire Council has condemned the attack.
Maria Walker said: “The damage done to Markethill Primary School has deprived our pupils of their right to an education when they should expect to be able to go, every day, to a school that is welcoming and appealing.”
About 500 pupils were displaced because of the vandals.
Mrs Walker added that many local residents had made “kind offers” to help clean up the school.
Anyone with information on who may be behind the attack is urged to contact police on 101.
