Two helicopters were called to the scene of a two-car crash at about 8.45am this morning after two motorists collided on the B9031 Fraserburgh to Sandhaven road. Police, fire and ambulance crews also attended, alongside one helicopter from the Coastguard. Police have now revealed that both female drivers were taken by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries. Three children under the age of five were in one of the vehicles, but are not believed to be injured. Scene of the Fraserburgh crash A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said one of the drivers had been trapped in their vehicle and needed to be cut free. A spokeswoman for the police said officers were in the process of clearing the road. “We don’t believe anyone has been seriously injured,” she added. “An air ambulance and Coastguard helicopter both attended and took a female each to hospital. “We don’t have their ages at the moment, but we’re in the process of getting the road cleared. “They have serious injuries, but they are not life threatening.” The road is closed at the Watermill Road junction in Fraserburgh.
