A man has died after after a bakery van crashed off on a north-east road.
The incident happened in Burghmuir Drive, Inverurie, at around 5:15am this morning.
The man, believed to be in his 60s, is reported to have suffered his injuries after his vehicle left the road before colliding with a tree.
The one vehicle involved is understood to be a JG Ross Bakers van.
The route was closed from the B9001 roundabout to the Blackhall Road roundabout for several hours.
It has since re-opened, with the force thanking motorists for their patience.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “We were in attendance at Burghmuir Drive, Inverurie, this morning following a serious road traffic accident.
“Officers along with Scottish Fire & Rescue Service and Scottish Ambulance Service received a report at around 5.15am of a van that had left the road and collided with a tree.
“Sadly we can confirm that the driver, a man in his 60s, has since died.”
Roads Policing Inspector Jon Barron said: “Our thoughts are obviously with everyone affected by this tragic incident at this very sad time.
“Enquiries are at an early stage and I would urge anyone with information to contact Police on 101.”
