An Aberdeen school has confirmed it will close its doors to pupils after a positive Covid-19 case was identified.
Oldmachar Academy, in Bridge of Don, informed parents of the detected case and said it would close the building “as a precaution” on Friday.
Head teacher Judith Mohamed added that a number of families will be contacted by a Test and Protect contact tracing team tonight and tomorrow.
She claimed there was “no evidence” of transmission of the virus within the school and said the it has “very good” control measures in place.
The decision was taken to close the school following a consultation with NHS Grampian.
The building will undergo a deep clean tomorrow.
Ms Mohamed added: “I realise that this news will be unsettling.
“However, the decision to close is purely precautionary and we will continue to do all we can to support the health and wellbeing of our school community.
“We anticipate being able to welcome all young people back into the building on Monday 24 August.”
