Connor McBride’s late double secured Gateshead a come-from-behind 2-1 victory against Wealdstone in the National League.
Wealdstone took a late lead as they looked for a first away win of the season, but McBride struck in the 76th and 80th minutes to earn the Heed a fourth success in five.
An inspired Jed Ward kept the hosts at bay in the first half. The Wealdstone goalkeeper got down well to deny Greg Olley before he tipped over Marcus Dinanga’s header and kept out McBride’s close-range effort.
Against the run of play, Wealdstone struck with 18 minutes left when Tarryn Allarakhia found the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.
But McBride equalised four minutes later after being teed up by Olley and then unleashed a brilliant curling effort from 25 yards to secure victory.
