A tragic school headteacher died in hospital after she was seriously injured in a car crash a few hundred yards away from her home.
Susan Crossan, 55, suffered life-threatening injuries after her Ford Fiesta collided with a Volkswagen Beetle convertible on Wednesday night.
The Culter Primary School head was believed to have been travelling home on South Deeside Road on the outskirts of Aberdeen when the tragedy happened.
The two cars were heading in opposite directions when they were involved in the head-on smash during rush hour.
The burgandy Fiesta ended up on its roof following the accident on South Deeside Road 350 metres away from its junction with Leggart Terrace where Mrs Crossan lived.
Culter community council chair Philippa Matthew said: “She was an extremely hard-working woman and she was well liked at the school and throughout the community and she will be greatly missed.
“We had recently been in touch about a reading scheme for the school. She had a lovely presentation for us to say thank you and we were very happy that we were able to help the school.
“We’re obviously very sad that she won’t be there.”
